1. Liebe Forumsgemeinde,

    aufgrund der Bestimmungen, die sich aus der DSGVO ergeben, müssten umfangreiche Anpassungen am Forum vorgenommen werden, die sich für uns nicht wirtschaftlich abbilden lassen. Daher haben wir uns entschlossen, das Forum in seiner aktuellen Form zu archivieren und online bereit zu stellen, jedoch keine Neuanmeldungen oder neuen Kommentare mehr zuzulassen. So ist sichergestellt, dass das gesammelte Wissen nicht verloren geht, und wir die Seite dennoch DSGVO-konform zur Verfügung stellen können.
    Dies wird in den nächsten Tagen umgesetzt.

    Wir danken allen, die sich in den letzten Jahren für Hilfesuchende und auch für das Forum selbst engagiert haben.

    Troubleshooting Mac OS 9.2.1: Initial Reports

    Our email bag is already overflowing with reports on Mac OS 9.2.1. What follows are the highlights from these reports.

    Note: The download is not a "full" update. You cannot do a clean install via the download file, for example. For that, you would need a OS 9.2.1 CD. The download update only updates an installed version of OS 9.1 to 9.2.1.

    Installation issues

    PrefRestoreInit
    Stan Kline writes: "I could not reboot my iMac after installation, until I removed an extension named PrefRestoreInit." A thread in the MacFixIt Forums confirms that at least some users are having the same problem (we did not). This is a new extension, actually located in the Mac OS 9.2.1 folder of the Mac OS 9.2.1 Update image. It apparently is used as part of the clean-up process after installing the update. See also this thread (code fragment error on startup) and this thread (FYI-PrefRestoreInit).

    Big System Morsels error Harith Al-Shakarchi encountered a problem reading the Big System Morsels file during the install. Disabling the Update Apple Hard Disk Drivers and Create Installation Report options, allowed the install to proceed normally.

    Was sind eigentlich die "Big System Morsels " ???
    ist das was im Rom drin ???

    hatte so ein prob kürzlich, bei einem 9.04--> 9.1 update, nun gelöst...
